The beauty of Dong Van karst plateau

Riding Winding Mountain Passes into the Limestone Highlands

Gather in Ha Giang City and depart at 8:30 AM, leaving the busy streets behind for the winding roads of the northern highlands. The ride begins with the sweeping curves of Bac Sum Pass, where the landscape quickly changes as towering limestone mountains rise around the road. Follow the guide through the bends at a comfortable pace before stopping at Quan Ba Heaven’s Gate for a short walk and panoramic views across the valley.

After lunch in Yen Minh, continue toward Tham Ma Pass, famous for its tight switchbacks and dramatic mountain scenery. The succession of curves and changes in elevation makes this a rewarding stretch for riders who enjoy mountain roads. Make a detour to Sa Phin Village to visit the historic Hmong King’s Palace, built from stone and wood and reflecting the region’s cultural heritage. Continue through Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark, where rugged peaks and remote settlements line the route, before arriving in Dong Van in the late afternoon.

Riding the Legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass Above the Nho Que River

If the day falls on Sunday, begin with a visit to Dong Van Market, where Hmong, Dao and Tay communities gather to trade goods, share local food and meet friends. Afterward, ride toward Lung Cu Village along mountain roads with changing elevations and expansive views of the northern highlands. Visit Lung Cu Flag Tower, a prominent landmark near the Vietnam–China border, and take in the surrounding mountain scenery.

Return to the riding route and continue toward Ma Pi Leng Pass, one of the most spectacular sections of the Ha Giang Loop. The road clings to steep mountainsides, with sharp bends and dramatic views over the Nho Que River far below. Take care through the curves and stop at suitable viewpoints to appreciate the scale of the limestone canyon. Continue toward Meo Vac, following the mountain road as it winds between rocky peaks and deep valleys. Arrive in town after an exhilarating day of riding through some of Ha Giang’s most impressive terrain.

Scenic Boat Trip on the Nho Que River

Cruising Through Tu San Canyon Before Riding to Du Gia

If it's the weekend, we will start the morning by visiting the authentic Meo Vac Sunday Market, famous for its livestock trading (goats, water buffaloes) and rustic charm. After exploring, we will take a little break from the motorcycles and head down to the riverbanks. We’ll hop onto a rustic boat for a 1-hour cruise along the Nho Que River, floating right through the Tu San Canyon—the deepest canyon in Southeast Asia—to experience the scale of these mountains from a completely different perspective.

Back on two wheels, your guide will lead you down a much quieter, off-the-beaten-path road toward Du Gia. Today’s ride sweeps across rolling ridges, lush terraced rice fields, and isolated wooden villages. By late afternoon, we will arrive in the peaceful valley of Du Gia village, where you can kick back with a cold drink and watch the sunset over the quiet mountains.

Mountain Towns & the Final Ride

A Refreshing Waterfall Stop and the Final Mountain Ride

After a cozy breakfast at the homestay, we start our final day with a refreshing stop at the hidden Du Gia Waterfall. Tucked away in a lush jungle canopy, this natural oasis features crystal-clear, cool mountain waters. You can jump in for a morning swim to wash away the road dust or simply relax on the smooth boulders and listen to the jungle sounds.

Once we are recharged, we’ll hop back on the bikes for a scenic cruise through gorgeous green terraces and local ethnic hamlets. We’ll wind our way back through Quan Ba town one last time before enjoying a final, rewarding mountain descent. We will roll back into Ha Giang City around 3:00 PM, officially wrapping up a fantastic 4-day Ha Giang Motorbike Loop Tour full of laughs, great roads, and unforgettable memories with your fellow riders.

RIDER INFORMATION

Self-riders should hold a valid International Driving Permit (IDP – 1968 Convention) together with the appropriate motorcycle licence from their home country. Some licenses may not be valid in Vietnam. Please contact us for guidance on how to ride legally in Vietnam if your license is not valid.
Motorcycle protective gear includes a quality helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and a raincoat.
We recommend bringing your own riding gear, including a jacket, pants, gloves, and appropriate shoes or boots, as the sizes of our protective equipment may not be suitable for everyone.

ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation is provided in twin or double rooms at local hotels or homestays, with 2 guests per room.
Couples can request a double bed, while two guests sharing a room can request twin beds.
Guests who prefer a separate room or a hotel room upgrade can request it for an additional charge.

LUGGAGE

Luggage can be carried securely on the motorcycle or arranged separately upon request.
We recommend bringing only essential items for the tour and leaving excess luggage at your hotel in Ha Giang if possible.
