The passes number 723 from Nha Trang to Dalat
Before leaving Nha Trang, we stop at the ancient Ponagar Tower, a Cham Hindu temple that once belonged to the prosperous Kingdom of Champa (2nd–19th century). The temple showcases a unique blend of local and Indian-inspired architecture and remains a significant cultural site.
From here, we ride west into the mountains, following winding roads through lush forests and breathtaking scenery. At Mountain 723 (1,500m above sea level), we pause to admire the panoramic views and a natural waterfall before continuing through sugar plantations and rice fields.
On the way to Dalat, we visit the remarkable Linh Phuoc Pagoda, famous for its intricate mosaics made from broken glass and ceramics, including a stunning dragon statue crafted from thousands of colorful pieces. By late afternoon, we arrive in Dalat around 4:00 pm.

Countryside road to Lak Lake
Leaving Da Lat at 8:30 am, you pass through flower farms ablaze with daisies, gerberas, and roses—a true canvas of color. The road soon winds into coffee country, where plantations grow Arabica, Robusta, and Moka beans. Here, you savor Vietnam’s world-famous weasel coffee, paired with a sip of homemade rice wine—fondly called “happy water.”
Next, the ride stops at a silkworm factory, where delicate threads are spun into shimmering fabrics, followed by a visit to the thundering Elephant Waterfall and a towering Buddha statue at a peaceful pagoda.
Descending into the lowlands, you pass through stilt-house villages and shimmering rice paddies. By late afternoon, the road opens to the vast Lak Lake. Arriving around 5 pm, you check into a lakeside hotel and enjoy the serene view as the sky reflects on still waters dotted with fishermen’s canoes.

At sunrise, Lak Lake comes alive with soft ripples and the sound of paddles. You board a traditional canoe, gliding past stilt houses of the M’nong people, water buffalo grazing along the shore, and fishermen casting nets with practiced ease.
Crossing into the village, you’ll see bamboo houses, simple yet harmonious with the land. Depending on the season, you may witness lively folk music and dance performed by locals in colorful attire.
The ride continues to the breathtaking Dray Sap Waterfall, where mist rises from the cascading water and the air feels fresh and wild. Take a picnic here, or dip into the pools for a refreshing swim.
As you approach Buon Ma Thuot, the regional capital of coffee, the landscape changes to rice fields, pepper farms, and even cocoa plantations. Stops at a mushroom farm and incense workshop offer glimpses of local life before arriving in town by evening.

Riding on the Ho Chi Minh trail
The day begins with a visit to the Dak Lak Cultural and Historical Museum, where ethnology exhibits reveal the traditions of the Ede, Ja Rai, and M’nong peoples, alongside wartime relics and artifacts.
Riding out of the city, the air grows cleaner as the route passes rubber plantations and pepper farms. Stop for coffee in a roadside hammock café, the kind of simple joy that defines Vietnam’s highland journeys.
By afternoon, the sound of rushing water draws you to Phu Cuong Waterfall, hidden in a pocket of forest. After soaking in its beauty, the ride continues toward Chu Se, arriving around 4 pm. Here, life slows down, with rice fields stretching into the horizon and stilt houses dotting the green landscape.

Enjoy the ride on the Ho Chi Minh Road
Today’s journey follows the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail, a route rich in history and breathtaking landscapes. A highlight along the way is Sea Lake, a volcanic crater known as “The Eyes of Pleiku,” its sapphire waters glistening amid tall pine forests.
Continue to a tea plantation nestled on rolling hills, where you can enjoy a cup of fresh green tea and take in the serene surroundings. A nearby lying-Buddha temple offers a moment of peace before the road leads into Kon Tum.
In Kon Tum, explore the Wooden Church, built by French missionaries in 1913, featuring Gothic architecture crafted with local materials. Visit Kon K’tu village, where stilted Rong houses stand as proud symbols of ethnic heritage and community. Experience the warmth of local traditions and enjoy the peaceful highland evening.

The road today weaves through mountains, rivers, and stories of war. Stops include Charlie Hill and Phoenix Airport, key sites during the Vietnam War. Streams and waterfalls tumble from the jungle hillsides, offering chances to rest, cool your feet, and soak in the untamed beauty of the Central Highlands. By evening, you arrive in Kham Duc, a quiet town nestled in the mountains, checking into your hotel around 5 pm.

Along the way, you’ll pass sites that still bear traces of the Vietnam War, adding depth and reflection to the day’s adventure. The ride is long but rewarding, with endless curves and panoramic scenery that few travelers ever get to witness. By late afternoon, we arrive in A Luoi, a quiet highland town near the Lao border, known for its ethnic diversity and traditional way of life.

Today’s ride takes us along the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail toward Hue, covering nearly 250 km of scenic mountain roads and remote landscapes. On the way, we explore the historic Khe Sanh Combat Base, with its preserved bunkers, tanks, and aircraft from the Vietnam War. We also stop at Rock Pile Hill, another former wartime outpost, before cruising along the tranquil Tam Giang Lagoon, the largest brackish water lagoon in Southeast Asia. By late afternoon, we arrive in the imperial city of Hue, ready to discover its rich cultural heritage.

Experience a full day in Hue, Vietnam’s imperial capital, where history and culture come alive along the Perfume River. Visit the UNESCO-listed Imperial City, the iconic Thien Mu Pagoda, and the serene royal tombs of Tu Duc and Khai Dinh. In the evening, enjoy a tranquil boat cruise on the Perfume River with live Ca Hue folk music, before wandering through Hue’s vibrant night market and savoring local cuisine by the riverbank. Hai Van Pass, the most breathtaking pass in central Vietnam
Leaving Hue at 8:30 am, we ride through peaceful countryside, past green rice paddies, and stop at a local mushroom farm before reaching the vast Tam Giang Lagoon, where fishermen’s daily life unfolds. Our journey continues to Dream Stream near Lang Co Beach, a hidden paradise of cool waterfalls and crystal-clear pools—perfect for a refreshing swim—followed by a delicious seaside lunch.
In the afternoon, we take on the legendary Hai Van Pass, famous for its winding roads and breathtaking coastal views, with a stop at old French bunkers perched at the summit. Descending into Da Nang, we visit the striking Linh Ung Pagoda with its 67-meter Lady Buddha, then explore the mysterious caves and temples of the Marble Mountains.
By late afternoon, we arrive in the charming town of Hoi An, ending the ride with unforgettable memories of Vietnam’s most scenic coastal road.
