Leaving behind the buzz of Hanoi’s streets, we ride north into a quieter world. The landscape shifts from rice paddies and rolling hills to limestone karsts that stand like guardians of the horizon. By afternoon, we arrive at Ba Be Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake in Vietnam, nestled within Ba Be National Park.
On this day tour, you will experience local hospitality from an ethnic minority village, go on a tranquil river trip, and explore the landscape change from rice farms to forests to towering mountains. Getting out off the main road to take a smaller one snaking through the breathtaking mountains.
Doing the boat trip around the lake to enjoy the biggest natural lake in Vietnam. Here you can see how people make their living by fishing and rice and corn cultivation and they are renowned for their picturesque stilt houses
The day closes with dinner and laughter in a traditional Tay stilt house, where warm hospitality makes us feel like family.

A Beauty of Ban Gioc Waterfall
The road twists through remote mountain villages where life flows at a timeless pace. By midday, the sound of rushing water grows louder as we approach Ban Gioc Waterfall, the crown jewel of the borderlands. Here, powerful cascades crash into turquoise pools, their mist drifting into China just across the river.
A bamboo raft brings us so close we can feel the spray on our faces. Afterward, we climb to Truc Lam Pagoda, perched on a hill, offering a sweeping view over the waterfall and endless karst ranges. As the sun dips, we settle into a Tay family homestay, sharing corn wine and stories beneath starlit skies.

Mountain Road at Cao Bang town
After breakfast, we will visit Nguom Ngao Cave, a must-see attraction in the Ban Gioc area. This stunning limestone grotto, adorned with stalactites in various shapes, is one of the most famous caves in Northern Vietnam’s mountains, leaving visitors amazed by its natural beauty.
We then continue along scenic roads lined with lush trees and rolling mountain vistas, heading toward Bao Lac, a quaint town nestled in the northeastern highlands. This region is home to the Black Lo Lo ethnic group, where women still wear traditional black dresses draped over their heads, featuring wide, colorful sleeves and long, full skirts fitted at the waist and knees.
The ride continues through the majestic mountains, with stops to admire breathtaking viewpoints along the way, before arriving in Bao Lac for the night, surrounded by stunning highland scenery.

A spectacular mountain landscape
Today, you will embark on one of the most unforgettable Northern Vietnam motorbike tours. The ride takes you along small, challenging mountain roads that reveal the breathtaking landscapes of colorful hill tribe regions. Experience some of Vietnam’s most spectacular passes, including Ma Pi Leng Pass and the iconic Heaven Gate Pass. Along the way, gain insight into the vibrant cultures of local ethnic tribes and see how they thrive in rugged, rocky terrain.
Upon reaching the town, enjoy some free time to explore the ancient streets, lined with traditional H’mong homes made of clay bricks and tile roofs that have stood for centuries. Later, we ride to the Nho Que River for a scenic one-hour boat trip, soaking in the most spectacular river views. The day concludes with a short 30 km ride to Dong Van, arriving around 4 pm amidst stunning mountain vistas.

Cloudy on the Quan Ba Hill- Ha Giang
Experience Northern Vietnam’s rich culture and stunning landscapes on this unforgettable journey. Visit the Sunday ethnic market, where Mong, Dao, and Tay people trade cattle and local goods, keeping community traditions alive. Ride along breathtaking mountain passes including Bac Sum Pass and Heaven’s Gate, and explore the charming H’Mong village in Tam Sơn - Quan Ba.
Enjoy lunch amid the scenic beauty of Yen Minh village, then continue along winding roads with stops at Twin Mountain, Can Ty Mountain, and Tham Ma Pass—perfect for panoramic photos. Discover the historic Vuong’s King Palace in Sa Phin village before entering the Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark, a UNESCO Global Geopark famous for its unique rock formations and cultural heritage. Arrive in Dong Van in the late afternoon, completing a day filled with adventure, culture, and breathtaking scenery.

Relaxing on the way to Sapa
Sapa, a bustling town perched high in the mountains, offers breathtaking views of the surrounding region. Known for its cool climate, Sapa attracts both domestic and international tourists eager to explore nearby ethnic minority villages.
After breakfast, enjoy a smooth motorbike ride along Route 2 for about 40 kilometers before turning onto a small, sometimes bumpy road to Pho Rang. The scenery here is unlike anything you’ve seen before—a stunning mix of green mountains, rice terraces, and charming ethnic villages. Stop in Pho Rang for lunch before continuing on a winding road toward Lao Cai, where the views constantly change and amaze.
Before entering the town center, take a short visit to the China-Vietnam border, a unique cultural and historical stop. After a brief break, continue the scenic motorbike ride up to Sapa, climbing to approximately 1,600 meters above sea level. The journey showcases majestic mountains and terraced fields, making it one of the best motorbike rides in Northern Vietnam. Arrive in Sapa around 4:00 pm.

Today’s ride from Mu Cang Chai to Phu Yen takes us through some of Northwest Vietnam’s most scenic and unspoiled landscapes. Mu Cang Chai is famous for its breathtaking terraced rice fields, especially spectacular during the harvest season. Winding mountain roads reveal lush valleys, dramatic peaks, and charming ethnic minority villages.
As we journey toward Phu Yen, we traverse quiet mountain passes and rural roads, passing through untouched countryside. Phu Yen is a peaceful, off-the-beaten-path town offering natural beauty and authentic cultural experiences. Though less known to travelers, it is a hidden gem for those seeking tranquility and a glimpse into local life.
Along the way, we’ll ride past tea plantations and hillside fields, perfect for a scenic break or short walk. Visit local tea farms to learn about traditional tea-making and enjoy a fresh cup of tea amidst serene landscapes. We arrive at our hotel around 5 pm, concluding another day of adventure, culture, and stunning scenery.

Passing a beautiful rice field in Mai Chau
Today’s motorbike ride to Mai Chau Valley is truly enjoyable, offering fresh scenery and new hill tribe villages different from previous days. Leaving Phu Yen town, we ride along the Da River on winding roads that weave between rivers, lakes, and mountains—a route reminiscent of Vietnam’s central coastline. After crossing the river by ferry, we ascend to the Moc Chau Plateau for lunch.
Post-lunch, we take a quiet mountain road called Hua Tat, built by the French during wartime, offering serene views and a sense of history. By late afternoon, we arrive in Mai Chau Valley, famous for its peaceful landscapes, lush green rice fields, and traditional Thai stilt houses. This charming valley is a perfect retreat for travelers seeking to experience rural Vietnamese life, explore local markets, and unwind amid stunning scenery.
Along the way, we pass through Moc Chau, a region renowned for its tea plantations and dairy farms. Often shrouded in mist, the area adds an ethereal quality to the ride. We continue toward Mai Chau, arriving around 5 pm

Finish our last beautiful mountain road before coming back to Ha Noi
Embark on the final short ride of about 140 km back to Hanoi, concluding an unforgettable 10-day motorbike adventure. Along the way, we’ll make several stops to savor the last moments of riding through stunning mountain landscapes before descending into the bustling roads of the capital.
Leaving Mai Chau, we’ll visit the impressive Hoa Binh Lake, a perfect spot to admire limestone karsts and islands scattered across the water. We’ll also stop at the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant—one of the largest in Southeast Asia—offering an insightful glimpse into Vietnam’s energy development.
Next, we pause at Cun Pass for a coffee break and soak in panoramic views of the valleys below. After this final scenic stretch along countryside roads lined with rolling green hills, we return to Hanoi before peak traffic, bringing our extraordinary motorbike journey to a memorable close.
